How to Fix clogged AC Drain – The Most Common AC Problem in Florida!
Is your AC not running or is there no power to the thermostat? It’s likely that your AC drain line is clogged, causing the system to flood and trip the float switch, which turns it off. Here are three simple steps you can take to repair it yourself with the right tools:
Connect a shop vacuum to the outside condensation drain line and suck out the debris.
While leaving the vacuum running, pour 2 gallons of hot water into the drain line inside to completely flush out the clog.
Vacuum any water that has collected in the drip pan below the air handler inside so the float switch returns to its normal position.
I hope this helps! If you need any further assistance, feel free to ask. 😊
FINAL NOTE: as part of a normal home maintenance routine, I personally recommend adding 2 cups on vinegar to the drain line once a month to prevent clogs.
